Amethyst Healthcare UK operates two highly specialised Radiosurgery Centres, using the Gamma Knife platform specially designed to treat previously inoperable brain lesions.
The two UK Centres are at the Queen Square Radiosurgery Centre, co-located in ULCH’s the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosergery; and at the Thornbury Radiosurgery Centre in Sheffield.
London
The Queen Square Radiosurgery Centre was established in 2012 and joined the Amethyst Group in 2020. It is housed within the University College London Hospitals’ (UCLH) National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square, London; the world’s oldest Neurosciences Hospital.
Together with the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, it forms a major Centre of Excellence for Neuroscience teaching, training, and research. Four of the world’s top twelve most cited authors in Neurosciences and Behaviour are currently based at Queen’s Square.

The Thornbury Radiosurgery Centre is located within Circle Health Group Thornbury Hospital in Sheffield. The centre is able to treat both NHS and private patients. Nationally recognised for delivering outstanding patient care, the Gamma Knife Team have built strong working relationships in the area, prioritising the individual needs of the patient.
We also work in partnership with Sheffield Oncology to ensure the highest levels of continuity of care.
